Netcool/Security Manager installation prompts

TBSM and Netcool/OMNIbus use the Netcool/Security Manager to configure user authentication and usage roles. When you install the Netcool/Security Manager software, you need to enter the information in this table. Follow the screens of the installation wizard or prompts in atext console installation.

Note: For localhost to work correctly in TBSM 4.1.1 on UNIX hosts, the /etc/hosts file needs to be configured so that when you ping localhost, you get the computer's IP address, not 127.0.0.1.

Security Manager Host	Required	Windows platforms: the name of the computer. On UNIX platforms: localhost.
Security Manager Server Port	Required and must be in the range 1241 -65535.	1275

ObjectServer Name	Required. The Netcool/OMNIbus ObjectServer monitored by TBSM.	NCOMS

Port	Required. The valid values are: 1241- 65535.	4100
Username	Required if Netcool/OMNIbus is installed on a different host than TBSM.	root

Confirm Password	If a password is specified, must be identical to the password that was entered.
Select an authentication source for Security Manager to use.	At least one of the options must be chosen as an external authentication source.	OMNIbus, the ObjectServer.

The following table includes the Netcool/OMNIbus authentication prompts.

Interface with the following ObjectServer.	If you select the ObjectServer authentication source, the settings for the previously entered ObjectServer are set by default.	Name, host, and port for the ObjectServer monitored by TBSM.

LDAP authentication prompts

If you specified LDAP as the authentication source, provide the requested information on the LDAP connection panel.

Prompt	Description	Default
Host	Required	Windows platforms: the name of the computer. On UNIX platforms: localhost.
Port	Required. Port used by the LDAP server. Must be in the range 1241 65535.	1275
Username	Required. Fully qualified dn of an LDAP user that has permission to browse the directory for users and groups.	None
Password	Required. Password for the LDAP user.	None
Confirm Password	Must be identical to the password that was entered.	None
LDAP User ID	Name of the LDAP attribute defined as a unique user ID in the LDAP schema.	uid
Base Context Users	Base context for LDAP users in the directory.	bcu
LDAP Group Name	Name of the LDAP attribute to use as a group in the authentication model.	cn
Base Context Groups	Base context for LDAP groups in the directory.	bcg
Group Filter	LDAP filter that specifies the group assigned to the user.	uniquemember=id.
LDAP Server is a Novel eServer or a Microsoft® Active Directory Server	Optional. Select if the LDAP server is a Novell eDirectory or Microsoft Active Directory server.	Null

If you selected Active Directory as the authentication source, provide the requested information on the Active Directory connection panel.
