Power on Wheels Wiki
Power on Wheels is a revolutionary addition to the Power Loaner Program designed to help quickly determine if Power is right for your server consolidation efforts by providing your client with direct, hands on access to the newest Power technology in a simple to use package that requires little to NO previous AIX or Power skills. Power on Wheels is delivered to a client location in a self contained shipping box. When the box arrives, the client wheels it onto their floor, opens the doors, plugs the box in to an electrical outlet and within minutes, the client starts stepping through the graphical user interface to power up and starts running the demo software application. Fully preloaded with a full suite of operating systems and middleware configured in a multi tiered solution, you will observe an on-line stock trading application in action. Explore Power technologies such as virtualization, power saving and server consolidation, and install your own applications to see how they would perform on Power Systems. Modify or change the machine in whatever way that fits your environment, and easily integrate the Power on Wheels into your network by using the provided cables. Power on Wheels provides the ability to quickly restore the environment to its original state at any time – as it was when it arrived on the floor.

Power on Wheels is ideal for in house benchmarks and proof of concepts and enables you to get a faster start and faster close on your Server consolidation testing. Power on Wheels is available through the Power Loaner Program or the STG Client Benchmark Center in Poughkeepsie.

Features of the Power on Wheels offering include:

  • Virtualization
  • CPU Sharing
  • Server Consolidation
  • Power Saving
  • Multiple Operating System Functionality
  • Redundant Hardware configuration
