Larger transaction sizes can reduce the number of remote procedure calls (RPCs) between a primary and a replica. This reduction helps mostly with synchronous replicas that are in peer mode only. All asynchronous replicas are automatically batched.
Network latency can affect synchronous replica performance. Also, the performance can be affected as the primary waits for the replica to acknowledge that it received the transaction.
