Alternative approach to installing OpenSSH
|
GPFS for Windows requires OpenSSH, which is available from the SUA Community website. The GPFS manual describes installing OpenSSH as a two step process: (1) download and install the Bootstrap Installer; and (2) install OpenSSH. The Bootstrap Installer comes as an executable installation package. OpenSSH is typically installed from the SUA Community's ftp server using a command like pkg_update. This second step can be a problem for system that do not have direct internet access. Although it is possible to solve this problem by staging OpenSSH and all of its dependent package to a local data store, Interop Systems has recently made a much simpler option available.
Interop Systems now provides a few pre-packaged bundles, all of which include OpenSSH. These bundles are listed on the SUA Community main page and can be downloaded as a single executable installation package. They include the Bootstrap Installer components and do not require access to the internet during the installation.
pkg-current-bundleuser35.exe is the smallest of the available bundles and is the right version for Windows Server 2003 R2. |
