Question: What's new in the 2.0.0 release?
Answer:
We're proud to announce a lot of significant improvements in the recent 2.0.0 release. This represents a "quantum leap" over the previous versions:
- Completely new matching engine that supports multiple composition results
- Color-coded match ratings
- Annotation editing tied to the new graphical WSDL editor in WTP
- New "Ontologies" view of owl files supplement pre-existing OWL editor
- WSDL matches can be mapped in the new WSDL Mapper tool
- Mediations can be generated and edited
- Compositions can be output as BPEL and edited in the new BPEL Editor
- Revamped our documentation
- Added to the SemanticSamples.
Question: Why aren't my matches working?
Answer:
The new matching engine utilizes WordNet. Please check that the WordNet pre-requisite
has been installed and your WordNet settings are correctly set in the preferences page. You can open up the preferences page from the Eclipse menu, by clicking "Window > Preferences..." and selecting "Semantics".
If you are having problems compiling the WordNet libraries on Linux, try contacting the WordNet folks
first. In our experience, they have been timely and responsive to emails.
Question: Why does the BPEL editor fail to start?
Answer:
Check your Java version from a command line interface by running "java -fullversion". The BPEL editor fails on JDK 1.5.x. due to a XALAN incompatibility. We recommend JDK 1.4 if you want to view service compositions. For example, you can set your path to a Java 1.4 bin directory and launch eclipse.exe from a command line interface.
Question: I noticed extra samples in the Semantic screenshots
and online demo
. Where can I get these files?
Answer:
Semantic Tools for Web Services 2.0.0 shipped with a good Geography sample, but additional samples can be downloaded from the SemanticSamples page.
