Assuming a freshly install Common Agent on the AIX End-Point

On the Director 6 Server

1. Discover End-Point
2. Give Access to the End-Point
3. Take an Inventory* of the End-Point
4. Update Manager + Check for Updates*
5. Update Manager + Show Needed Updates
   1. Select the End-Point Operating System
   2. Select all 10 components
   3. Install

"*" means you should set this up on a schedule - I suggest once a day during a quiet period.

Restart the Common Agent by hand

1. We gat asked about automatic restart but it does not appear to happen (perhaps that is what Deffered meant).
2. find / -name endpoint.sh
3. /var/opt/tivoli/ep/runtime/agent/bin/endpoint.sh restart

Check Endpoint version from the Director 6 Server

• /opt/ibm/director/bin/smcli lssys -n <full-end-point-hostname> -A ManagementSoftware
• Example: /opt/ibm/director/bin/smcli lssys -n bronze_lpar5.aixncc.uk.ibm.com -A ManagementSoftware
