How to configure AIX V5.3 as a Network Time Protocol client

This page is intended to summarize (not replace) the Configuring NTP on AIX 5L Technote.

To configure AIX as an NTP client, edit /etc/ntp.conf to comment out the broadcastclient line and to specify one or more NTP servers. For example:

# broadcastclient
server timeserver.almaden.ibm.com prefer
server bld-nt.srv.ibm.com

Then, use the smitty xntpd fast path to start the NTP daemon and configure it to start at boot time.
