Registration Information

NOTE: To sign on to the Wiki, an external IBM ID is required. This ID is different than an IBM Intranet ID.

If you have an IBM Intranet ID, it is possible that both IDs will be the same format (for example, if you use your IBM e-mail address to register on developerWorks).  However, the IBM ID is a separate userid, with a separate password. The IBM Intranet ID and password will not work automatically on this site.

How to Register

On the upper right-hand side of the pages on the developerWorks site,  there is a developerWorks logo.
Below the logo is a link to Log In which you must access to either log into the Wiki site or register for an IBM ID. ->

1. Click the link Log In

You will be directed to a page to
Sign in to developerWorks

2. Enter your IBM ID and Password. If you do not have an IBM ID, click Register Now

You will be directed to a page to request an IBM ID
My IBM Registration

3. On the registration page:

  • If you are an IBM employee and have an IBM e-mail address, try registering with that address
  • If you do not have an IBM e-mail address, any valid e-mail address can be used
  • If you are able to proceed and register, then you will have your new IBM ID (that is, the e-mail address you used to register)
  • Your IBM ID enables you to participate on all developerWorks community pages (Wikis, blogs, forums, and so on)
  • If you receive an error message that the ID is already taken, it most likely indicates that you are already registered on developerWorks
    • Use the password you assigned at the time you registered or recover your password using the "Forgot your password" option.

4. Sign into developerWorks and create a screen name:

  • Once an IBM ID has been created, sign in to developerWorks using your IBM ID
  • You will also be prompted to create a developerWorks screen name
  • The screen name is separate from your IBM ID
  • Any comments you make will be signed with this screen name, rather than your email address
    • This helps guard your privacy and helps prevent spam

Screen Name Rules:

  • Screen name can contain between 3 and 30 characters.
  • Only the following characters are allowed: 0-9, a-z, A-Z, '@', '-', '.', ',', '_' (at, dash, dot, underscore).

5. You will then be returned to the Wiki main page, and your screen name should be displayed.

6. If you are not returned automatically to the main Wiki page, navigate to the Wiki main page (WebSphere Instructor Wiki home) and follow the log in steps outlined above.

If you have questions about registering for the Wiki, send an e-mail to wedvwiki@us.ibm.com

I registered with developerWorks, I chose a screen name, but when I try to post a comment on an article I get an error stating that my screen name "is not in the database."

Hmmm. My screen name seems to work fine on this Wiki. It doesn't work when I try to post a comment on an article.
