Instructor Materials Vault - Course Materials Download Site

WebSphere instructors in the US, Canada, and Europe are provided access to the Instuctor Materials Vault (IMV).  (Instructors in other geos need to work with local resources for access to instructor courseware.) From that site, you can download PDF files of the instructor and presentation materials, Lab Setup Guide, and the lab files for the courses you teach or are preparing to teach. Accessing files on the IMV requires a user ID and password. The IMV server is located inside the IBM IT Classroom Services virtual private network (VPN). To access the VPN, you must have the Aventail client installed and configured on the workstation you will use to download materials. If you are accessing this server from the Internet, you will also need an assigned VPN user ID and password.

Requesting IMV access

Normally, instructors are granted access to the IMV when they first become a WebSphere instructor.  If you do not have access, you can request it by sending an email to insthelp@us.ibm.com.

Email message must include the following information:

  1. Statement that this is a request for access to the WebSphere Instructor Materials Vault.
  2. Make sure to mention that you need an Instructor Materials Vault ID and password, and, if necessary, a VPN ID and password.
NOTE: If you are an IBM employee and accessing the IMV from the IBM Intranet (from an IBM location or by using the AT&T Net Client), the VPN user ID and password is not required. You will need just the IMV server user ID and password.
  3. Information concerning who is authorizing the submitter as an instructor.
  4. Must cc: paulbark@us.ibm.com - Paul Barkowitz, WebSphere Education Program Manager.

Your VPN user ID is for your use only and should not be shared with others. Violations of this policy will result in your access to the server being revoked. Your password is valid for one year.

Connecting to the IT Classroom Services VPN and Accessing Courseware

  1. To connect to the IT Classroom Services VPN, you must have Aventail installed on your PC. See the Aventail page for more information.
  2. Once Aventail is installed, open a browser window and navigate to: http://kitter02.ilsvpn.ibm.com. If you are on the IBM Intranet with Aventail started, the page will display immediately. If you are on the Internet with Aventail started, you will be prompted for your VPN user ID and password.
  3. Once you have established your access to the IT Classroom Services VPN home page, select "Instructor Materials" from the navigation controls on the left.
  4. Login with your IMV userid and password.
  5. Once you have entered the site, you will be presented with a list of courses you are authorized to teach or to prepare to teach.

If you do not see the course that you seek, or if you have any other problems with accessing the IMV site, call the instructor hotline in the US,  1-888-502-5511 (the international number is 1-404-238-6000), and open a problem record. Alternatively, you can send an email to insthelp@us.ibm.com Someone will be assigned to assist you.
