Download and boot p5 Diagnostics CD
- Download the P5 Diagnostics CD http://techsupport.services.ibm.com/server/mdownload/diags

- Download the Microcode update files and discovery tool from http://techsupport.services.ibm.com/server/mdownload/cdimage.iso

- Boot the 710, make sure you insert the diagnostics CD
- Press 5 after keyboard POST, before monitor POST, to Start diagnostics CD (looks like an AIX boot)
Once Diagnostics disk has booted
- On the function selection screen, select Tasks and Service Aids.
- On the task selection screen, scroll to the bottom of the list of options, and select Update and Manage Flash
- Insert the Microcode Update Files & Discovery Tool CD into the media device, select Validate and Update System Firmware, and press Enter. 4. Press F4. A list of firmware fix image files is displayed.
- Select the image file that is similar to /microcode/SqnP5/01SF2xx_yyy_yyy.img.
- Press F7 (commit). The server firmware level that you selected will be installed on the temporary side.
During the server firmware installation process, reference codes CA2799FD and CA2799FF are alternately displayed in the control panel. After the installation is complete, the system is automatically powered off and powered on.
The server will update the Temporary side of the firmware and reboot, It may take a LONG time.
