RedHat Operating System
An updated tzdata package that fixes daylight savings rules for various countries is now available.
The tzdata package contains data files with rules for various timezones around the world.
Users should rerun 'redhat-config-date' to update the local timezone in /etc/localtime.
Suse Operating System
Users should download the latest glibc package, the latest I note is 'glibc-2.3.6.tar.gz'.
 | For both Redhat and Suse you can confirm whether the daylight savings time is set correctly via the command:
- /usr/sbin/zdump -v /usr/share/zoneinfo/Australia/Sydney |grep "2006"
/usr/share/zoneinfo/Australia/Sydney Sat Apr 1 15:59:59 2006 UTC = Sun Apr 2 02:59:59 2006 EST isdst=1 gmtoff=39600
/usr/share/zoneinfo/Australia/Sydney Sat Apr 1 16:00:00 2006 UTC = Sun Apr 2 02:00:00 2006 EST isdst=0 gmtoff=36000
/usr/share/zoneinfo/Australia/Sydney Sat Oct 28 15:59:59 2006 UTC = Sun Oct 29 01:59:59 2006 EST isdst=0 gmtoff=36000
/usr/share/zoneinfo/Australia/Sydney Sat Oct 28 16:00:00 2006 UTC = Sun Oct 29 03:00:00 2006 EST isdst=1 gmtoff=39600 |
