virtual machines for a variety of popular processors and operating systems
IBM has shipped virtual machines that run on over 80,000,000 devices.
WebSphere Everyplace Micro Environment can be ported to the majority of
Chip Sets (ARM, XScale, MIPS, PowerPC, and more) and Real Time Operating
Systems (Symbian, Linux, Windows, and more). For large scale commercial
deployment, WebSphere Everyplace Micro Environment V6.2 runtimes can be
custom built for your evaluation purposes. These runtimes conform to the
specified
Java Platform, Micro
Edition
(Java ME) configuration or profiles.

For small volume business deployments and individual copies for personal
use, you can purchase WebSphere Everyplace Micro Environment software from
IBM Business Partner Handango for $25 USD. (IBM no longer provides
free evaluation or trial copies on the IBM Web site.) All of
the Java runtimes available from Handango are Java ME certified. Runtimes
are delivered as is, and no support is provided. IBM has tested these
runtimes on Windows Mobile 5 as a reference platform. Some companies have
also used them on Windows Mobile 6 devices.

Note that this runtime can be downloaded only to a Windows Mobile 5 device.
Also, the file you download is a Windows/x86 Install shield (EXE) that you
must run on your PC. It presents you with the License Agreement and then
copies the files to your PC. We do not provide a CAB file; therefore, you
must manually copy the LIB and BIN directories to your device using
ActiveSync.
