Prerequisite skills

Obtain self-directed or formal training in how to use the product. Although you need not be a SOA, J2EE, or Java expert to use the product, some sites are suggested in case you want to learn about these subjects. The WebSphere platform plays a key part in implementing a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) approach. Applications deployed on WebSphere Application Server are based on the Java 2, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) 1.4 standard.

Web-based training - IBM WebSphere Training and Technical Enablement (Online course)
Web-based training courses are self-directed and self-paced. Each course is divided into modules so you can select and customize your course to your own educational requirements. After you register for a Web-based training course, you can use your userid and password to access any Web-based training course or tutorial on the site. Be sure to remember your userid and password. When you restart your browser, you'll need to re-enter them to access any course or tutorial. If you forget your userid, you can create a new one from the course registration page. Many of the Web-based training courses listed below are currently free of charge. Additional fee-based courses are available from IT Education Services.

Migrating

Migrating is copying the configuration from a previous release of this product into a new release. Application migration is included here. Coexisting is running a new release of a WebSphere Application Server product on the same machine at the same time as you run an earlier release, or running two installations of the same release of a WebSphere Application Server product on the same machine at the same time. Interoperating is exchanging data between two coexisting product installations.
