This tutorial provides a series of tasks to configure Secure Socket Layer (SSL) for secure outbound Web service calls from IBM® WebSphere® Commerce to IBM WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus. It also provides tasks to configure SSL with the transport protocol HTTPS.

Before you start

Using a secure protocol like HTTPS is essential for communications between two systems, especially when the request is carrying un-encrypted data. This tutorial provides detailed step-by-step information on how to configure HTTPS for outbound communication from WebSphere Commerce to WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus (hereafter called WebSphere ESB). In the examples in this tutorial, WebSphere Commerce acts as a client to the Web services hosted in WebSphere ESB.

Objectives

Learn how to:

  • Create a trust store and key store in WebSphere ESB.
  • Create a SSL Configuration in WebSphere ESB.
  • Create a secure Web container transport chain in WebSphere ESB and assign it to the application.
  • Add signer certificates to trust stores in WebSphere ESB and WebSphere Commerce.
  • Specify a key store for outbound calls in WebSphere Commerce.
  • Enforce client authentication in WebSphere ESB.
