The Intelligent Notification Service of IBM WebSphere® Everyplace Access delivers important information to users who subscribe to certain applications. The notifications can be sent to the users' preferred mobile devices from a variety of content sources, including email, databases, and news feeds. This tutorial describes how to create an INS subscription application to handle new content sources using WebSphere Studio Application Developer V5.0.

The audience for this tutorial is application developers who are familiar with WebSphere Studio Application Developer, and would like to learn how to create an INS subscription application.

Objectives

  • Create a subscription portlet based on the INS sample portlets

  • Create a customized portlet

  • Create and modify a trigger handler file

  • Create and modify a content adapter

Prerequisites

You should have prior experience with WebSphere Studio Application Developer, INS, and portlets.

  • IBM WebSphere Studio Application Developer 5.0
  • IBM WebSphere Studio Application Developer 5.0.1 PTF
  • IBM WebSphere Everyplace Toolkit 4.3
  • WebSphere Everyplace Access 4.3 with INS
