IBM® WebSphere® Portal integrates with collaboration components, including Lotus® Sametime®.This tutorial demonstrates how to install and integrate Lotus Sametime V3.0 with WebSphere Portal Extend V4.2.1 so that you can enable collaboration capabilities for portal users. You learn how to use WebSphere Portal and Sametime together to provide portal users with instant messaging capabilities and application sharing through e-meetings.
You use the Lotus Sametime Connect portlet 4.2 and the My Lotus Notes® Mail portlet to test whether you have successfully installed Sametime functionality with portlets. The Lotus Sametime Connect portlet displays a link that lets users launch the Lotus Sametime Client for Web browsers in a separate browser window. With Lotus Sametime Connect, organizations can provide reliable and secure instant messaging, conferencing, awareness, and collaboration services within their networks.
The My Lotus Notes Mail portlet displays the portal user's Lotus Notes inbox, and lists the names of e-mail senders as links, (a people awareness capability). You see the sender's online status, and you can chat with the person, send an e-mail, or add that person to your Sametime list.
This tutorial is intended for WebSphere Portal administrators and developers.
