WebSphere Business Integration Message Broker and the visual mapping facilities provided in the Message Broker Toolkit support the Extended Structured Query Language -- a programming language that you can use to create message transformations. This article describes how to create the mappings visually using the mapping editor.

Transformation is the process of manipulating a set of input data structures into a set of output data structures. These input and output data structures can involve a message containing a set of deeply nested elements or a database table. These structures can be created easily using the visual mapping facilities provided in the Message Broker Toolkit.

This is Part 4 in a six-part series on the IBM® WebSphere® Business Integration Message Broker V5. This article will give you a visual approach for building the message-to-message, message-to-database, and database-to-message mapping and transformations used in the Web Order Application Sample.
