This article illustrates how to use IBM Workplace Services Express Version 2.0 templates to develop and deploy collaboration applications. You see how to create a new application template, create a specific application from the template, and customize the application.

IBM® Workplace™ Services Express, hereafter called Services Express, provides an application tooling paradigm based on assembly of components, membership, and templates. A workplace application brings together people, content, and processes to facilitate efficient collaboration. These applications are based on templates, which are pre-configured sets of portlets and pages to address a specific business process.

Services Express provides built-in, self-service, browser-based tools that you can customize and use to build collaborative applications. Knowledgeable business users can create new applications, and they can customize existing workplace applications and application templates. This article describes how to use these tools to quickly assemble components into deploy-ready application templates.
