These samples illustrate the use of the Web Services Invocation Framework (WSIF) to dynamically invoke a Web service. WSIF is a Java API, closely aligned with the Web Services Description Language, that lets you to invoke Web services dynamically, regardless of how the service is implemented or what mechanism is used to access it. For example, the Web service can be implemented as a Java class, an enterprise bean, or a SOAP service.
These samples are based on code developed by the Apache Software Foundation. There are two samples, each containing a Web service that has been implemented in more than one way. When you invoke each sample through WSIF, you can indicate which implementation to use, or let WSIF choose for you.
- The Stock Quote Sample illustrates deploying a simple Web service that retrieves real stock quotes from WebserviceX.NET. The Stock Quote Web service has been implemented as a SOAP service and also as a local Java class
- The Address Book Sample illustrates deploying a simple Web service that allows the storage and retrieval of names and addresses. The Address Book Web service has been implemented as a SOAP service, a local Java class and also as an enterprise bean.
