The UDDI Registry Samples are simple applications that demonstrate how to programmatically access a UDDI Registry. They run on WebSphere Application Server Version 6.0, using the UDDI Registry which is an optional component of WebSphere Application Server for Network Deployment.

The UDDI Registry Samples demonstrate how to:

  • Use the UDDI Version 3 Client for Java™ to manipulate UDDI entities
  • Use the UDDI Registry Management (JMX) interface to manage configuration settings which control UDDI Registry behavior
  • Use the UDDI Utility Tools to export, import, promote, find and delete UDDI version 2 entities
  • Use the UDDI APIs directly via SOAP to manipulate UDDI entities

Samples are also available for WebSphere Application Server Version 5.

Hardware requirements

The hardware requirements for these samples are the same as for WebSphere Application Server Versions 6.0 or 6.1.

Software requirements

The software requirements for the UDDI Registry Samples are WebSphere Application Server Version 6.0 or 6.1, and any prerequisite software that it requires, together with one of the databases that UDDI supports. You also need a web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox, to view the documentation provided in the UDDI Registry Samples download.

Supported operating systems

These samples run on all operating systems that are supported by WebSphere Application Server Version 6.0 or 6.1. They have been tested on a selection of Windows® UNIX, and Linux platforms. There is a separate version of the V6.1 samples for zSeries.

Installation instructions

To install the UDDI Registry Samples, download the ZIP file and unarchive it to a directory of your choice, preserving the directory structure. This creates a subdirectory tree containing the Java source for the samples and the XML files they use. After unarchiving the UDDI Registry Samples, open the readme.html file. This gives instructions on how to install, configure, build and run these samples.
