WebSphere Application Server Version 4.0 Advanced Edition
WebSphere Application Server 4.0 is fully J2EE 1.2 compliant. It also includes support for
Web Service technologies. WebSphere 4.0 includes three flavors of the Advanced Edition --
Advanced Developer Edition, Advanced Single Server Edition and Advanced Edition. All
Advanced editions have the same programming model. The Single Server Edition has a simplified
administration, and the Developer Edition has licensing and pricing to meet individual
developer needs.

WebSphere Application Server Version 4.0 Enterprise Edition
While the Advanced Edition server provides a full implementation of J2EE and Web services,
these two specifications themselves are limited in terms of providing enterprise-class
functionality. WebSphere Enterprise Edition services are a collection of plug-ins that
extend the capabilities of the Advanced Edition server to meet the broader functional
demands of an enterprise system.
