| A lightweight framework to track and manage IBM Sametime client plug-ins
It sometimes makes sense to leave users completely in charge of their workstations, giving them complete latitude on installation and product and software versions. However, it can turn into an IT administration headache when direct management is required, for example, to make sure that a certain component has been brought to a required service-pack level to ensure compatibility with a company server.
This is particularly true for modular client software such the IBM® Sametime® client which, through its underlying Eclipse and Lotus® Expeditor platform, offers infinite customization possibilities through the addition of new plug-ins or extension of existing ones.
To mitigate this problem, this article describes and implements a lightweight and extensible framework to track and manage the configuration information of the Sametime client and plug-ins inside an organization.

IBM Web Content Manager in IBM WebSphere Portal can make
use of dynacache instances to store rendered content retrieved from Web
Content Manager when advanced caching is enabled. This caching improves
response time and reduces load on the database. WebSphere eXtreme Scale and
the XC10 caching appliance offers an implementation of dynacache that stores cached content in an elastic data grid instead of using the default dynacache implementation, which stores cached content in IBM WebSphere Application Server heap space or on disk. This article examines the significant performance benefits of moving the WebSphere Portal advanced cache content into a data grid hosted by an XC10 caching appliance without requiring any application code changes.

| Display enterprise data as dynamic HTML using IBM Mashup Center
IBM Mashup Center comes with widgets for displaying data in different
formats, for example in a table, on a map or in a chart. These widgets allow
very quick page assembly but normally only provides a limited set of
customization like font size, alignment color. To have greater control on the
presentation, IBM Mashup Center Version 3 supports the generation of any XML
directly using data from enterprise data sources. This article shows how you
can generate HTML (XHTML to be specific since the feed is well-formed) for
more distinctive presentation using the data mashup builder. In addition, the
article describes a simple widget that can display arbitrary HTML and can
intercept mouse clicks to trigger events that can be wired to other
widgets.
