Webcast: Smart techniques for application security: Whitebox + blackbox security testing
Two techniques - whitebox and blackbox application security testing - have emerged to detect vulnerabilities. They approach the problem in different ways. One analyzes software at the source while the other scans applications for vulnerabilities in the compiled program. While both have their strengths and weaknesses, a combination of the two approaches embedded across the software development life-cycle provides security professionals the most comprehensive application coverage. This one hour webcast, a security research team discusses these techniques, highlight how their approaches to vulnerability detection compliment one another and share best practices for embedding application security testing across the software development lifecycle.

Staying ahead of cybercrime: The importance of Web application security
Security managers worldwide working for midsize or large organizations share a common goal: to better manage the risks associated with their business infrastructure. Web application security plays a significant role in achieving that goal. This session will discuss new and emerging network and application security attacks, analysis from the IBM Internet Security Systems X-Force research and development team's latest X-Force Trend Statistics Report, and ways organizations can protect themselves against Web application and network security threats.

Hacking 102: Extending Web application security testing across the software delivery lifecycle
Security teams struggle with being the bottleneck for getting new applications into production quickly, and the cost of fixing issues discovered so late in development is significantly higher than if addressed earlier in the development lifecycle. The only real solution is to build security into Web applications from the start. Secure coding practices and developer security tools help to preempt these issues through early discovery. IBM Rational AppScan Developer Edition integrates Web application security testing into development, and Web-based education tools help non-security experts -- like developers -- find, understand, and fix security issues while attempting to avoid them in the future. In this webcast we will discuss how the IBM Rational AppScan can be used in various stages of the development lifecycle to achieve these goals.
