DB2 and Ruby on Rails, Part 2: DB2 and pureXML with Ruby on Rails
XML is one of the most common data interchange format on the Web today. DB2's support for pureXML, combined with the parsing and generating XML APIs (REXML) available to Ruby on Rails, provides powerful combination for Web application development. The native XML support in DB2 data servers brings flexibility for storing semi-structured, hierarchical XML documents alongside relational data, through its hybrid database engine compiler and parsers, for both SQL and XQuery. In this second article of Ruby on Rails Series, we demonstrate how to utilize pureXML in our Team Room example from the first article.
