IBM resources to enhance your curriculum

Find out how IBM can help you teach topics related to Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), business process management (BPM), and business modeling.

Overview of SOA and business process management

SOA is a business-centric IT architectural approach that supports integrating a business as linked, repeatable tasks, or services. BPM is a method of examining, integrating, and optimizing the business tasks performed by people and technology within an organization, ensuring that it's operating effectively.

IBM WebSphere software brings these two concepts together and enables you to design, model, execute, and monitor business processes with an SOA approach. If your curriculum includes any business process topics, check out our IBM WebSphere offerings.

How can IBM help me teach about SOA and business process management?

The IBM Academic Initiative has links to many publicly available tutorials, IBM Redbooks, technical articles, and white papers to help you and your students learn about SOA and IBM WebSphere BPM software. IBM also has an interactive, 3-D game called INNOV8 BPM Simulator that teaches students the fundamentals of business process management in a fun and innovative way.

The program also offers software, courseware, and many other benefits to its members at no charge. Not a member? Join now.

Academic Initiative members can download the INNOV8 game, full versions of our IBM WebSphere software, and professionally developed courseware to use in classes or labs.
