The 2008 Master the Mainframe contest has ended, but you can get a head start for the upcoming mainframe contests.

If students at your school want to compete in the Master the Mainframe contests, we ask that you join the IBM Academic Initiative so that we can verify student's eligibility. There is no charge to join, the entire process takes only about 10 minutes, and there are many benefits to becoming a member:

  • Free access to IBM software, courseware, and online training
  • Discounts on conferences, IBM certifications, classroom training, and more
  • Access to a mainframe system for you and your students at no charge

Ready to join?

  1. Go to the IBM Academic Initiative membership page and follow the instructions there.
  2. When asked to specify the IBM technology that you currently use or plan to teach in your courses or research, select System z software and/or hardware.

After you join, your students can use your name as their Sponsoring Educator when they register for an IBM mainframe contest.
