Jazz Innovation

2008 Innovation Awards

Award amounts and expectations

Each 2008 Jazz Innovation Award is in the range of US $10,000-$25,000, for one year.

Award recipients will be expected to interact with the Jazz community through the community tools on jazz.net. In the interests of furthering the open community, we strongly encourage award recipients to use an open, Jazz-based development process, making the Jazz Team Servers they use — and hence their development process and artifacts — publicly available. Among other benefits, this will provide a set of Jazz repositories available for mining research.

Award recipients will also be expected to be open to informal discussion and sharing of research results with members of the Jazz and other development communities, and to disseminate results through workshops, conferences, and journals.

Proposals requested

Proposals will be judged on the basis of originality, importance, openness, relevance to Jazz technology or the educational use of Jazz, and demonstrated ability of the researchers to do significant research in this area. The latter includes a convincing proposed research program, evidence of a research track record, such as relevant papers published in significant conferences or journals, and a statement of expertise on:

The proposals will be judged by a committee drawn from members of IBM Research and IBM Rational teams who are involved with the Jazz project. Their decisions will be final.
