IBM Information Management

At the core of IBM's software solution for information management is a powerful family of relational database management system (RDBMS) servers, which provides the right capabilities to manage data and support operational and analytic applications. The integrated data management portfolio provides a modular environment to design, develop, deploy, operate, optimize, and govern data, databases, and data-driven applications. IBM also provides a unified, powerful data warehousing and business intelligence software that gathers, manages, and analyzes data.

  • - For basic database design and management: DB2, DB2 Express-C, Informix

    DB2 is data server for XML and relational data. DB2 Express-C is a light-weight edition of DB2, perfect for the academic community.

    Informix is an embeddable, full-feature relational data server, also popular with companies worldwide.

    Data Studio provides database developers and DBAs with the basic set of required tools for database development and administration for DB2 and Informix data servers, at no additional charge.

Teach database concepts and skills with our ready-to-use DB2 Academic Associate Certification training program. You can also apply for no-charge certification testing.

Academic Initiative members can request a 50% discount for themselves and their students on some IBM Professional Certification tests at Thompson Prometric Centers. IBM also offers many training and certification resources at a fee.
