Delivering key IBM software for teaching purposes
through an automated, virtual, self-service environment
A cloud environment for academics
Following the announcement of the Academic Skills Cloud on February 10, 2010, Academic Initiative members at 20 colleges and universities across the United States began participating in the pilot program. These participants are able to access and use IBM software for teaching purposes without having to install the products on their own systems. Over time, this cloud offering will be extended to additional schools in IBM's global network of Academic Initiative partners, which includes 9,000 faculty members at more than 4,500 universities worldwide.
The members participating in the Academic Skills Cloud pilot have access to IBM Rational, WebSphere, Lotus, Information Management, Cognos, and Tivoli software on SmartCloud Enterprise (previously announced as Smart Business Development and Test on the IBM Cloud). IBM plans to add additional software to the cloud. Get the details about this Academic Initiative offering.
