Before you begin working through your hands-on knowledge path, it is important that you have some understanding of the IBM® Rational® Jazz Initiative and its core principles. Take a moment to review these basics on the Jazz.net website.
The Rational Jazz portfolio consists of a common platform and a set of tools that all of the members of the extended development team can use to collaborate more easily. This reflects our central insight that the center of software development is neither the individual nor the process, but the collaboration of the team. Our flagship Jazz technology-based offering, IBM® Rational Team Concert™, is the focus of this training. With Rational Team Concert, teams can work together from different locations to collaborate and deliver coding projects.
Now that you understand Rational Team Concert benefits, you might want to install and try it on your own server.
Read: Understand the features of the different versions of Rational Team Concert and download(if you are using Rational Team Concert for a team with 10 or fewer developers, you can choose to remove the 60-day time limit by downloading the "10 FREE Developers" registration key)
There are two Rational Team Concert clients available for download: one based on Eclipse and one based on Microsoft Visual Studio. Watch these videos to understand how to use the client that you prefer for development and deployment in a Rational Team Concert environment.
Rational Team Concert makes project management much easier than traditional methods by using preconfigured dashboards that show real-time status.
Practice: JUnit Project tutorial(an example of a team using Rational Team Concert to plan, track, collaborate, and deliver the release. When the sample JUnit project is created, you can view existing artifacts as if the team has already begun its work.)
