Introduction to IBM Optim Development Studio and pureQuery Runtime

Discover the rich data management and development features

Date:  07 Oct 2011 (Published 24 May 2011) |Level: Intermediate |

1. Install IBM Optim Development Studio and pureQuery Runtime

IBM Optim Development Studio (previously called Data Studio Developer) and Optim pureQuery Runtime together provide an integrated development environment to speed up your data access design, development, and deployment while also increasing your data access efficiency and performance.

2. Explore the key capabilities

In a series of free online technical briefings, get familiar with the Optim portfolio. Then watch a 35-minute, 5-part video series showcasing what's new in Version 2.2 of Optim Development Studio.

3. Code Java apps using pureQuery methods

Optim Development Studio helps you develop Java applications that use pureQuery annotated methods. Learn how to create a pureQuery-enabled Java project in Optim Development Studio, add support for pureQuery, and generate code and SQL directly from a database table. Then modify the generated interface, test it, and use the SQL Outline to navigate between the Java source code and SQL. And finally, gather SQL performance data, view it in the SQL Outline, and bind the SQL for static execution.

4. Manage your database routines and test deployments

Create and manage your database routines and adopt routine templates more simply. And deploy artifacts to your test environment more easily with the Optim Development Studio test deployment management framework.

5. Collaborate to improve performance and stability

With Optim Development Studio, developers, architects, and database administrators (DBAs) can collaborate in new and productive ways in heterogeneous database environments with Oracle and IBM databases, and improve performance, security, control, and maintenance.
