IBM Cognos Framework Manager is the IBM Cognos BI modeling tool for creating and managing business-related metadata for use in IBM Cognos BI analysis and reporting. Metadata is published for use by reporting tools as a package, providing a single, integrated business view of any number of heterogeneous data sources.

4. Create queries as a business analyst

With little or no training, you can use IBM Cognos Query Studio to quickly design, create, and save queries. Easily create simple reports with relational and dimensional data models, using calculations, filters, groups, and sorting.

7. Understand the Cognos 10 dashboard

Dashboard is a term that is used commonly in the context of business analytics and is a popular way of presenting important information. Based on their business needs, users have different understandings of what a dashboard is and how it should look.

8. Extend your knowledge of self-service dashboard assembly

With IBM Cognos Business Insight, you can create sophisticated interactive dashboards using IBM Cognos content. You can view and open favorite dashboards and reports, manipulate the content in the dashboards, and email your dashboards.

IBM Cognos Active Report is a disconnected and interactive report that is developed for employees in the field, as well as the growing ranks of telecommuters and business partners who are not connected to a company Intranet and need information and analytics to make quick decisions and actions.

There is a full-featured, mature and robust API available for Cognos. This section provides a brief introduction into the SDK and how it can be used to customize and integrate Business Analytics for a particular implementation, including customizing the user interface, using the Cognos Mashup Service, and understanding the Cognos SDK.

11. Follow the architect path
