Autoclear remote deploy

Status: Completed

Priority: Medium

Progress:

100%

Description:

Each time you issue an ITM Command Line command or use the Tivoli Enterprise Portal to remotely manage a Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Agent information about the transaction is preserved in the Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server's Deployment Status table. To make it easier to manage the contents of this table, especially in large enterprises, you can schedule the periodic removal of completed transactions from the table. Enabling this feature allows you to review completed deployment transactions at opportune times as well as reduce the amount of Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server overhead by maintaining a modest table size.

To schedule periodic cleansing of completed transactions from the Deployment Status table, you need to specify how often you want the cleansing to occur. You can do this by adding an environment variable (CLEARDEPLOYSTATUSFREQ) to the Tivoli Monitoring Enterprise Server's configuration file so that the Server will enable automated clearing at startup, or by setting the environment variable on an already running Tivoli Monitoring Enterprise Server by using the IBM Tivoli Monitoring Service Console. If you use the IBM Tivoli Monitoring Service Console you can set the clearing interval, or disable the cleaning altogether at anytime.

When automated clearing is enabled, the Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server will automatically find deployment transactions that have completed, remove them from the Deployment Status table to reduce its size, and record information about the deleted transaction in a log file for examination by the user at a later time. The automated cleaning runs at the hourly interval that you specify by the setting an environment variable.

You can enable this feature at Tivoli Enterprise Monitor Server startup by adding the following environment variable to the Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server's environment file.
CLEARDEPLOYSTATUSFREQ=X
Where X = number of hours between the automated clearing of the Deployment Status table. If X is zero (0) or this environment variable is not specified in the configuration file, automatic clearing of the table is disabled. Valid values are zero (0) to 720.
