| Welcome to the Jazz Space |
![]() And welcome to Jazz! This Space is the IBM developerWorks focal point for all things Jazz, including Jazz-based commercial products like Rational Team Concert. Jazz is IBM Rational’s next-generation technology platform for collaborative software delivery. Uniquely attuned to distributed teams, the Jazz platform combines people-, project- and process-awareness with automation to make team-based development more productive and enjoyable. Jazz is innovation, team, community, vision, and an open, real-time, pluggable collaboration framework for the next generation of distributed software delivery tools for teams small to large. Jazz takes software delivery from "desktop integration" to "lifecycle integration," from "function first" to "team first," from "manual" to "process-aware and transparent." This Space is where developers and others involved in software delivery can visit to keep abreast of the latest news, sports and weather involving Jazz. You'll find links to wikis, news, events, products built on Jazz like Rational Team Concert, technical articles, tutorials and other information about Jazz. Please visit us often for the latest on Jazz, and watch this space for new Jazz announcements. More > |

| IBM Research examines team collaboration in virtual worlds |
|
Many people are excited by what the Jazz technology platform can bring to the software delivery process and team environment. But what if you extend that to virtual worlds? IBM understands that developing a workforce that is adaptive to change in a global economy is vital to the growth of a company and to the development of future leaders. As Baby Boomers continue to retire and Generation Y comes of age, new work styles must emerge to motivate and retain employees in the new corporate landscape. IBM Research is working to solve the digital divide in the workforce with Project Bluegrass, a project that integrates three key factors in motivating Millennials -- collaboration, communication and visualization. Project Bluegrass takes the IBM Jazz technology and creates a virtual-world environment where software developers can work, chat and brainstorm around a virtual water cooler while "seeing" their teammates alongside interactive visual representations of ideas, data from the Web and from Jazz-based sources. Here's a link to Bluegrass at the Watson Research Center. Stay tuned for more on Bluegrass. Bluegrass is waaay cool! More > |
