Ashok Sethi, CIO Sapient
|
 |
Today, let’s talk about the CIO. An expert on the “art of the possible”. He acts as an optimum “catalyst” to integrate “IT” so that the organization can move towards a shared vision of an Enterprise of the Future. He empowers the organization to survive in uncertain economic times.
A CIO is a “Change agent driving creativity” having “Innovation focus” with “Opportunistic Wisdom”. A definition construed by Sapient’s CIO, Ashok Sethi, in our dW CIO connect Interview.
Ashok elaborates- “as a catalyst, a CIO articulates and aligns IT vision based on business strategy outlined by the Leadership team. He translates vision into strategic initiative portfolio for functional heads.” In a gist, he is the owner of the ecosystem’s lifecycle in an all-encompassing 360degree view. But how does this translate down to the IT community Space?
According to Ashok, the IT community at large should focus on understanding the business strategy/direction and engage in understanding business processes, which would enable them to become partners with the business. The need is to innovate keeping the “services thinking” hat on, provide solutions that become roadmaps and always view problems from the End User’s perspective- “Realize we are the first users of our own services.”
Ashok Sethi’s message to IT Professionals " They should exchange information and collaborate which in turn would lead to innovation. IT is ubiquitous with high social and moral responsibility.”
