Tivoli Process Automation Engine, or TPAE, is the base platform on which several Tivoli products are based including Maximo Asset Management and SmartCloud Control Desk. This release adds functionality to the TPAE platform to enable applications built on it to be deployed in a multi-tenant environment.
The following themes guide the planning of this release:
Administrative Cost Reduction: One application server deployment and one database schema are needed to reduce administrative costs.
Data Isolation: Tenants exist in the same database but have no access to each others data in the RDBMS or cache.
Security: The system must be secure so that no user on the system can gain access to unauthorized resources or compromise the system.
Performance: The application must scale and no tenant's activities can impact those of other tenants.
Tenant Administration: A new role of 'landlord' is needed to manage tenants and administer the system.
Tenant Customization: Tenants need to be able to change screens, add tables and fields and even their own applications. They should also be able to customize their business processes including workflows and business system integration.
