About this course

This on-line course introduces the basic principles of object technology and visual modeling using the Unified Modeling Language (UML) 2.0. You'll learn the four principles of visual modeling and the basic building blocks of the UML as well as the benefits of the use-case driven, architecture-centric process that the UML supports.

  • Module 1: Principles of Modeling: 30 minutes

  • Module 2: UML 2.0 and the Modeling Process: 30 minutes

  • Module 3: Building Blocks of the UML: 1 hour

Audience

This web-based training is intended for anyone who is interested in learning the fundamentals of object technology, what modeling is, and the basic constructs of the UML 2.0.


Objectives

  • State the principles of visual modeling

  • Determine when to use visual modeling

  • Recognize the diagrams and elements used by UML to model visually

  • Build simple models using the UML diagrams

There are no prerequisites for this course.

  • OS: Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional SP 2, SP3, SP4, Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Workstation SP 6a +SRP, Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP 1, SP 2
  • Machine Speed: 56K modem (assuming connectivity between 32-50Kbps)
  • Display Properties: High color, minimum resolution of 1024x768
  • Browser: Internet Explorer browser Version 6.0 or later, Netscape Navigator browser Version 7.0 or later, Mozilla browser Version 1.1 or later, FireFox 1.0.7 browser
