About the author

Dr. Ivar Jacobson, was formerly the Vice President of Process Strategy at Rational Software. He founded the Swedish company Objectory AB, which merged with Rational in 1995. One of the three original designers of the UML (Unified Modeling Language), he has also made seminal contributions to software development in other areas.
