About this course

IBM® Rational® RequisitePro® is Rational's tool for capturing and managing requirements for a project. This course provides instruction on RequisitePro project structure and application, as well as applying the tool to software development practices as recommended in the Rational Unified Process (RUP)®.

In this course

This web-based training course provides instruction on the use of IBM Rational RequisitePro, Rational's tool for capturing and managing requirements for a project. Hands-on labs are used to enhance the concepts presented in the Requirements Management with Use Cases course. Students gain an understanding of RequisitePro project structure and use the tool to apply software development best practices as recommended in the Rational Unified Process. The computer labs guide students through building and adding data to a class project within the context of a controlled Requirements Management process. The labs completed in class focus on applying RequisitePro in a work environment.

  • Introduce requirements management and RequisitePro product (50 minutes)

  • Establish a RequisitePro project (60 minutes)

  • Gather and enter requirements (60 minutes)

  • RequisitePro documents (70 minutes)

  • Views and traceability (85 minutes)

  • Offline authoring, metric, and team communication (55 minutes)

Audience

This web-based training course is intended for RequisitePro end users or any team member using RequisitePro to capture, manage, and interact with the project requirements. The primary audience is analysts.

  • Create and build a project

  • Create, import, and revise requirements, attributes, and requirement documents

  • Define hierarchies of requirements

  • Trace requirements to one another

  • Manage changing requirements through views, queries, and metrics

  • Know how to subscribe to a requirement and receive revision notification in e-mail

  • Participate in group discussions

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this web-based course. It is recommended that students have attended the Requirements Management with Use Cases course.
