About this course

This course provides a conceptual background for IBM Rational Unified Process® (RUP®) v7.0. It investigates the navigation, structure and main elements of RUP, as well as how RUP is applied to iterative software development. After taking this course, students will be able to begin implementing software development techniques that will aid the success of their software development projects.

Audience

The course is intended for developers, team members and project managers who are considering or beginning the use of Rational Unified Process as their software development process.

  • Describe the key principles of software development and relate them to realistic experiences.

  • Define the basic concepts of iterative development and how it differs from other approaches

  • Use the facilities and navigate through the primary areas of the Rational Unified Process to become comfortable in the RUP environment

  • Describe the elements and groupings used in the RUP and how they apply to realistic software development projects

  • Describe how phases and iterations are specified in the RUP and how they apply to real-life software development projects

  • Describe ways of tailoring and publishing their own method Web site

  • Note: This course has an overview level of coverage of Rational Unified Process; other Rational University courses are available for in-depth training.
