This article was first published in May, 2002, and refers to IBM® Rational® XDE® v2003

The IBM® Rational® XDE® Release Notes contain important information you will need to install and use the product. It is important to review the document for your respective platform because it describes:

  • What to do before you start installation.
  • How to install.
  • How to start Rational XDE and create a new model.
  • How to open your existing models, and the compatibility issues that affect how your models appear and work.
  • Known problems that you may encounter.
  • How to contact technical support.

Upgrade guidance: upgrading from XDE 2002 to XDE 2003

This document describes the issues to be considered when you upgrade from XDE 2002 to XDE 2003 in a team environment. It also specifically considers the implications of IBM® Rational® ClearCase® 2002 and ClearCase 2003, including XDE considerations in upgrading from one to the other. There are very important considerations when you upgrade models, particularly those kept in a repository such as ClearCase. Click here to view the full guide (published May, 2002).

Alternate workflow: setting up a ClearCase UCM environment

This document replaces the following section of the XDE Guide to team development, Version 2003.06.00.

  • Setting Up the ClearCase Environment

This section is located on pages 147 and 199 of the guide and replaces the following ranges of steps:

  • Step 1 (page 148) to Step 4 (page 155)
  • Step 1 (page 200) to Step 4 (page 208)

This document describes an alternate method of setting up a ClearCase UCM environment. By creating a new UCM project instead of using the project created by the ClearCase Getting Started Wizard, you can eliminate a number of steps. Click here to view the document (published May, 2002).
