 | Level: Introductory developerWorks Rational Forums (dwrforums@us.ibm.com), Rational Community User Facilitation, IBM
15 Feb 2007 Updated 17 Feb 2009 A group of experienced customers help IBM Rational manage the online discussions. Learn more about them in this document.
IBM Rational relies on help from a special set of customers to better manage the discussions. These so-called "Discussion Facilitators" volunteer as our day-to-day eyes, paying attention to the ongoing content. From bright ideas to dark concerns, these are the folks who help get the beast called IBM to pay attention. Feel free to write them in private e-mail for items best handled outside of a public forum. Otherwise post your thoughts online for all to see.
Discussion Facilitators perform the following kinds of tasks:
- Tracking the online conversation by reading it frequently
- Identifying items that need further attention from IBM Rational
- response needed from Rational (i.e. a question that a Product
Manager should respond to)
- inappropriate messages (violation of guidelines)
- unanswered questions (not per message but to identify a trend
if it is developing)
- duplicate posting that should be deleted
- Nominating best postings for special consideration
- Helping identify "Valued Contributors" whose postings are particularly helpful
- Participating on Member Advisory Board, where they provide feedback on discussion enhancements during elaboration/development, ahead of the general RDN community
- Interfacing to IBM Rational Product Management
For issues which span multiple forums, please consider the Using developerWorks forum.
Listed by forum, the helpful people listed below serve as Discussion Facilitators.

James Stamaja
Berlin, Connecticut, United States
stamaja@nu.com
James has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical
Engineering from the University of Vermont, and a Master of
Science degree in Computer Science. James has worked for 21 years
for Northeast Utilities. His experience with software
configuration management started with control and monitoring
systems for large power plants, and software control and data
systems (SCADA) for electrical transmission systems. When
Northeast Utilities brought ClearCase into the Information
Technology department for UNIX and Windows business applications,
James was given the job of ClearCase Administrator (ClearCase
version 3.2 at that time). Since then he has overseen the
maintenance and upgrading of the system; supporting users has
become another responsibility. Northeast's largest software
project which was in development for about three years is just
going into Production. That project presented some interesting
challenges setting up UCM and MultiSite to coordinate coding
between our on-site team and an offshore vendor in order to meet
the schedule and release plans.
Away from work, James "enjoys boating with my wonderful wife Benjawan". He also likes "photography, especially with the evolved capabilities of digital cameras and photo processing software." |
