04 Dec 2003 This document provides information on changes to product names and suite offerings for IBM Rational products.

On June 5, 2006 IBM announced the withdrawal of the Rational Rose XDE product family listed below. The Rational XDE components are being withdrawn from the market; however, the Rational Rose components will continue to be supported and will be re-packaged into a new set of offerings.

IBM Rational has evolved its product portfolio to provide customers
with a set of products that have the greatest flexibility to meet their software
development team's needs. Part of this evolution includes the following changes:
- Unbundled practitioner suites allowing customers to purchase
practitioner products and team unifying products separately, or together,
at their discretion.
- Aggregated practitioner products into comprehensive role-based
product packages
- Simplified product licensing to a single license model
per product -- primarily floating license model.
This means that some core Rational products are now part of suites,
and because of the change, the core product may now be referenced by the suite
name. We will incorporate the new product names into material on RDD. For a

product offerings page on the Rational Web page. Since some of these naming
changes affect some products that are frequently written about on RDD, we've
highlighted them here:
