Before you start
Learn what to expect from this tutorial and how to get the most out of it.
This tutorial gives you an introduction IBM® Rational® Asset Manager from an end-user perspective. The scenario is a service developer who is looking for service assets to reuse and is unable to find one, so the developer decides to create the service asset by using features in Rational Asset Manager, IBM® Rational® Software Architect, IBM® Rational® ClearQuest®, and IBM® WebSphere® Service Registry and Repository to expedite the process.
You will learn how Rational Asset Manager enables you to create assets, search for existing assets, and use existing assets in your environment.
The online trial program uses the Citrix Access Platform to provide a connection from your workstation to a remote server that is running Rational Asset Manager for this hosted evaluation. You will need to download the Citrix client software before starting the online trial. You can download the Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server client at no charge from the Citrix site. Many versions are available, including versions for Microsoft® Windows ® and Linux ® platforms. After you install the Citrix client, you will be asked to restart your browser. If you do not have it installed when you attempt to access the online trial, you will be prompted to install the client.
Both Microsoft® Internet Explorer® V6 or later and Mozilla Firefox V1.5 or later are supported.
We recommend that you use a high-speed connection while evaluating software online. Because the session is running remotely over the Internet with unpredictable delays and latencies, you should not use your experience with the session as a guide to the performance of the tools when installed in a local environment.
