IBM improves lifecycle development support for automated builds, and adds sophisticated release management capabilities. IBM Rational ClearQuest® is extended to enable tracking of when a build starts and ends, and can maintain a solid record of other status information. It can automatically track each milestone as a release progresses through the build cycles, test harnesses, and established approval gates before deployment into production. The records for build and deployment can be associated with each other, and with other development artifacts such as requirements, code changes, test cases and test results, enabling traceability across the full lifecycle. With the integration of IBM Rational Build Forge®, detailed build information can be automatically created and updated, allowing for detailed audit records and extended traceability. IBM Rational ClearCase® and IBM Rational ClearQuest can also be integrated with IBM Tivoli® Provisioning Manager. This enables deployment of approved build files directly from the source code repository into a variety of test environments, and into production.
IBM continues its commitment to easily configurable, auditable workflows. With V7, IBM Rational Software Development Platform team products extend workflow management to include the full range of testing activities, from test planning through execution, capturing and analyzing the complete record of test results. Test plans and test cases can be defined and customized to match your business processes. This new capability also allows you to connect to a range of testing tools offered by IBM Rational as well as other test tools supported by the Eclipse/Test and Performance Tools Platform Framework. eSignature signoffs at various checkpoints are supported, and test information can be linked with requirement, code, build, defect, deployment and other delivery data for full lifecycle traceability. IBM Rational has also formed a new offering, IBM Rational ClearQuest and Functional Testing. It gives testing teams a complete solution for defect management, test management, and automated and manual functional software testing.
IBM Rational creates traceability on a global scale by tightening the relationships between deployed code bases and the requirements that created them. Through an improved integration between IBM Rational ClearQuest and IBM Rational RequisitePro®, richer requirements artifacts can be stored directly in the IBM Rational ClearQuest database. Highly distributed development teams can establish traceability between all development artifacts, and then synchronize the artifacts with development teams around the world.
Functional enhancements to the IBM Rational ClearQuest Eclipse® Client include connection management, XML/XSL export capabilities, and context-sensitive help. IBM Rational ClearQuest V7 Integrates and automates the business process of software and systems development. V7.0 provides enhanced requirements tracking, build tracking, enterprise test management, and deployment tracking capabilities. This allows a full audit trail from development through deployment and extending traceability across the lifecycle. Release automation is enabled through an integration with IBM Rational ClearCase and IBM Tivoli Provisioning Manager. Enterprise test management provides enterprise scalability and supports integrated test execution through the integration with IBM Rational Functional Tester, IBM Rational Manual Tester, IBM Rational Performance Tester, and test tools that support the Eclipse/TPTP Framework enable distributed test management. The new IBM Rational ClearQuest client provides a consistent interface and functions across Microsoft® Windows, Linux® and UNIX® platforms. IBM Rational ClearQuest and Functional Testing V6.1.1 Provides testing teams with an integrated solution for defect management, test management, and automated and manual functional software testing. With this solution, globally distributed testing teams can manage large scale, complex testing projects of both legacy software systems and new systems developed with modern technologies. The solution allows for test planning, test automation, test execution, results analysis, and defect tracking. With enhanced traceability between requirements and tests and integration between the test management and automation tools, testing projects can accelerate the process of ensuring high-quality software applications. IBM Rational Purify V7, IBM Rational PurifyPlus V7 Delivers a run-time analysis solution designed to help developers write faster, more reliable code. It is designed specifically for embedded, real-time, and other types of cross-platform software products. This new release of IBM Rational Test RealTime® expands the IBM Software Development Platform by integrating IBM Rational Test RealTime with the Eclipse platform. This integration can improve user productivity and ease the sharing of data. IBM Rational RequisitePro V7 IBM Rational RequisitePro V7 you will find enhancements in the areas of traceability from change requests to requirements and security for Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) authentication. It supports the creation of IBM Rational ClearQuest requirement records from IBM Rational RequisitePro requirements, which can then be associated with other IBM Rational ClearQuest records, such as defects and requests for enhancements. This greatly improves traceability of change requests to requirements. With the addition of using Secure Socket Layers (SSL) protocol with LDAP user authentication, communications can be encrypted and documents can be secured. In IBM Rational RequisiteWeb, you will also receive increased usability and scalability. You can now create a project by using IBM Rational RequisitePro project templates and databases and use a project template supplied with IBM Rational RequisitePro or a user-defined template created from an existing project in the IBM Rational RequisitePro client for Windows. The IBM Rational Rose family of products represents our classic UML modeling and MDD solution. It is one of the most popular UML tool on the market today. These products support UML V1.4, which is not the most current version of UML (UML V2 is the latest), but is found to be sufficient for most customer needs. IBM Rational Rose is best positioned for customers who want a stand-alone UML modeling tool that is only loosely integrated with IDEs and databases.
