This tool identifies the root cause of poor performance observed during a test by round-trip response time decomposition. The response time is broken down into the times spent within each component in the system under test enabled by the included Tivoli ARM data collector. A Data Collection Infrastructure (DCI) version has been included to run with Rational Performance Tester v6.1.1.

Important note: This is the download archive for IBM Performance Optimization Toolkit. These are NOT the current versions.

Prerequisites

You must have IBM Rational Performance Tester v6.1 or v6.1.1 and the IBM Performance Optimization Toolkit for Rational Performance Tester workbench installed before using this toolkit.

Installation instructions

Download the toolkits at the bottom of this article.

From the table below, download the IBM Performance Optimization Toolkit (zip format) for your desired platform.
Unzip this file and read the Installation Guide (Install.html) and Release Notes (readme.html) located in the <platform>\<platform>\disk1 sub-directory of the zip file contents.
Install the Performance Optimization Toolkit onto the same machine as Rational Performance Tester v6.1 or v6.1.1.
Download and install the Data Collection Infrastructure (DCI) for platforms where you wish to collect performance data.

After the Performance Optimization Toolkit is installed, you can view documentation from within the Help > Help Contents menu of Rational Performance Tester. The applicable Help sections are located under the topic "Analyzing distributed application performance problems."

Customers on current maintenance for Performance Tester can receive support for this toolkit via their standard IBM Rational support channels. Please specify IBM Rational Performance Tester v6.1or v6.1.1 as the product when opening any service request for this toolkit.
