After completing this workshop you will be able to develop, package, deploy and configure the simple UML to Ant transformation using IBM® Rational® Software Architect.

Overview

IBM Rational Build Forge enables users without any in depth knowledge of the build infrastructure to build an application simply by running a Build Forge project. However Build Forge itself relies on build scripts written in Ant, make, perl, or shell to build whole or part of the application. Writing solid Ant or make files may be challenging when not done regularly. Having a step in a Build Forge project that simply generates the build scripts from a UML model could reduce the need to have Ant or make experts around every time an application's structure changes. This workshop explores how to create an IBM Rational Software Architect UML model to Ant script transformation. Rational Software Architect itself can be launched in headless mode to run the transformation from a Build Forge project step.
