The RUP for Microsoft .NET Plug-in provides the context to take advantage of this technology. It helps ensure that developer's solutions are maintainable and business-oriented. It supplements RUP with .NET-specific content and provides guidance on how to perform the RUP activities in the context of a .NET development project.

System requirements

You must have IBM® Rational® Method Composer V7.2 installed to use this plug-in.

Purpose

The RUP Plug-in for Microsoft® .NET provides detailed support for development teams transitioning to the .NET platform. The process captures the best practices and guidance from industry experts in the .NET and software development spaces. It is essentially the same as v2.1. Changes consist primarily of look and feel and structure changes to accommodate changes to the underlying RUP process.

Installation instructions

This section describes how to import the Rational Method Composer plug-in into a method library.

1. Download the file and extract the contents of the zip file to a convenient location.
2. Start Rational Method Composer and open a Library based on library.7.2 that was shipped with RMC 7.2.
3. Select File > Import to launch the Import Wizard.
4. On the Select page in the Wizard, select Method Plug-ins and click Next.
5. Browse to the location where you extracted the plug-in and select the directory with the plug-in zip file name, click OK and then Next.
6. Choose the Import option: Ignore and remove unresolved references and click Next.
7. Check the box next to the plug-in name and click Finish.
8. If you receive any warning messages about overwriting a current plug-in, accept the warning, click OK.
9. If you do not have a backup copy of your current library, it is advisable to make a backup copy before importing the plug-in. Click Yes when asked to make a backup copy of your library.
10. The plug-in will be imported into your library and you will see it in the Library View.
