System requirements
You must have Rational Method Composer V7.1 installed to use this plug-in.
Purpose
RUP for Compliance Management is designed to provide guidance for solving the complex issue of managing compliance with government regulations and industry process standards, as well as internal policies and practices.
This plug-in is based on the IBM Compliance MSO Approach which advocates a generic approach to compliance management. The main drivers for this approach are to:
- Build on the overlap across regulations and standards
- Provide a common strategy for compliance management across the entire enterprise
Critical areas that contribute towards managing compliance for software development include:
- Ability to establish a compliant development process
- Approval checkpoints (both project and technical)
- Systematic production and control of records
- Quality gates
- Separation of duties
- Ability to enforce a compliant development process
- Automated workflow
- Traceability
- Authentication through electronic signature
- Implementing separation of duties w/r/t user rights administration
- Build management
- Application security testing and management
- Ability to monitor and report software development controls status within broader IT-wide and corporate-wide controls management systems

The following instructions are also in the readme.txt file that is included in the zip file.
To download the plug-in and import it into a Rational Method Composer library, follow these instructions:
- Download and unzip the file RUP4ComplianceManagement.zip to a convenient location and unzip it.
- Start Rational Method Composer
- Select File > Import to launch the Import Wizard
- On the Select page in the Wizard, select Method Plug-ins and click Next
- Uncheck the Use default directory checkbox
- Browse to the location where you extracted the plug-in and select that directory, click OK and then Next
- Check the box next to the plug-in name and click Finish
If you do not have a backup copy of your current library it is advisable to make a backup copy before importing the plug-in. Click Yes when asked to make a backup copy of your library.
- The plug-in will be imported into your library and you will see it in the Library View
Publishing a web site including the plug-in
NOTE: This requires that the compliance plug-in and configuration be installed.
- Install the compliance plug-in and configuration following the previous instructions
- Start Rational Method Composer
- Select Configuration > Publish
- Select the method configuration named Compliance, and click Next
- Specify the publishing options:
- Choose a destination directory, or check use default path
- Uncheck the check external hyperlinks checkbox
- Set the feedback URL to: mailto:rupfeed@us.ibm.com?subject="Feedback: Compliance:1.0B"
- Check the checkbox entitled: publish activity detail diagrams that have not been created in process editor
- Click Finish
