It's just that "main" behaves differently from any other branch:
o It has weird mastership rules
o Every element has at least one version on main
o Locking main has unintended consequences
o You can't rename or obsolete main.
I generally use "main" only for initial imports. In small shops that are
just starting up, I also accept main as an initial delivery branch but
recommend that they create their own as soon as practicable.
